Chemogen™ is a patent-pending formula providing a combination of high-potency green tea catechin extract, L-theanine and quercetin.  Green tea catechins and L-theanine have been shown to provide antioxidant support for healthy cells, support specific immune responses in the body, and enhance the effectiveness of oxidative treatments.*  They appear to have effects on growth, apoptosis, matrix metalloproteinase activity, and Her-2/neu intercellular communication. Theanine may also reduce stress and anxiety, offering additional potential benefits. *

The immune system is a complex system involving communication between organs, tissues and chemicals.  Its main purpose is to protect the body against foreign invaders, infection, and disease processes.  The primary functions of the immune system have been understood for a relatively short period of time.  As far as is understood at this time it is thought that the thymus gland (master gland of immunity) grows rapidly for the first two years of life.  It continues to grow at a slower rate until puberty.*

At that time the amount and strength of the T-cells determines the strength of ones immune system.  The thymus gland then slowly shrinks with age, lessening the strength of ones immune system.  Shrinkage of the thymus (decreasing immunity) can be caused by stress, infection, radiation, drugs such as cortisone, malnutrition, chronic illness and free-radical damage. Specific nutrients that support the thymus and immune system as a whole may potentially increase ones immunity.*

Description of Chemogen™ (Hypoallergenic) from Allergy Research Group®:

Chemogen™ is a patent-pending formula providing a combination of high-potency green tea catechin extract, L-theanine, and quercetin. Numerous studies have demonstrated multiple potential uses for green tea catechins and L-theanine. They have been shown to support specific immune responses in the body, and to enhance the effectiveness of oxidative treatments.  Research suggests they can potentially reduce the toxicity of typical treatments. They appear to have effects on growth, apoptosis, matrix metalloproteinase activity, and HER-2/neu intercellular communication. Theanine may also reduce stress and anxiety, offering additional potential benefits. *

Green Tea Extract (Camellia sinensis) is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to improve digestion and brain function. Studies have shown that green tea consumption correlates with reduced risk of abnormal growth, and may reduce risk from some toxic chemicals. Green tea powder given orally significantly reduced cardiotoxicity. *

Catechins, the active ingredients in green tea, are antioxidant polyphenolic flavonoids which can protect cells from free radical damage. They have been shown to support circulation, help lower cholesterol levels, and support cardiovascular health. Of the four major catechins in green tea, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is viewed as the most significant. Research shows that EGCG inhibited matrix metalloproteinases, which are considered essential for the invasive processes of angiogenesis. EGCG also appears to reduce specific cell signal pathways involved with HER-2/neu activity. *

Theanine is commonly used in Japan as a nutritional factor to reduce stress and produce a calming effect. Stress reduction can be especially important for the ill, who may experience excessive stress and anxiety from both diagnosis and treatment. Theanine has been shown to stimulate the alpha waves in the brain. Alpha waves are greatly reduced in those with anxiety, but typically are elevated in subjects who are in a state of calm relaxation. Theanine appears to affect neurotransmitter concentrations in the brain, including GABA, serotonin and dopamine. Theanine has also been found to enhance the effectiveness of certain types of therapy, and to reduce cardiotoxicity. *

Quercetin is an antioxidant bioflavonoid that can help control inflammatory responses, modulate the immune system, increase capillary strength, and protect healthy cells from oxidative effects. *

Allergy Research Group®, Inc.

*Hypoallergenic Defined:  According to Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary "hypoallergenic" is defined as:  "Diminished potential for causing an allergic reaction."   Allergy Research Group® defines hypoallergenic as "Free of all common allergens", specifically, wheat, corn, soy, gluten, yeast, dairy, and eggs. Many very sensitive individuals who reach to supplements in general, are able to tolerate Allergy Research Group® product. Since our inception in 1979, we have been using only the purest, and whenever possible, the lowest allergy potential natural ingredients.  And while many of the nutrients in our formulas are synthesized from natural substances (plant sources), which as a whole may contain antigens, the synthesizing process removes the molecules of the desired nutrient from the original substance, and in the processing a great percentage of the antigens and allergens are left behind. The final material then has extremely low allergy potential.  This is not to say that no one will react to any of our hypoallergenic formulas, as some extremely sensitive people may.  However, the potential for an allergic reaction is low, and the feedback from many of our extremely allergic and sensitive customers is that Allergy Research Group® supplements are the only products they are able to tolerate.  (For further information about Allergy Research Group, click on their information link above)
