| Description of Artemisinin Gel (Topical Formula) from Allergy Research Group®: Artemisinin Gel contains artemisinin, or Qinghaosu, the active constituent of the herb Artemesia annua (sweet wormwood). Artemisinin is known to have oxidizing activity, involving it's internal structural configuration, which includes a peroxide bridge. It is thought that this oxidative mechanism could help control microflora and/or support normalization of topical conditions. * Artemisinin Gel contains artemisinin in a concentrated suspension, and includes a driving agent to facilitate absorption and effectiveness. Although to date no studies have been done on the use of artemisinin formulations on skin surfaces, preliminary clinical observations suggest it may be of value. * Oral artemisinin has been thoroughly investigated. Good quality Artemesia annua contains 0.3-0.5% artemisinin, so pure artemisinin provides hundreds of times more activity than the whole herb itself. Allergy Research Group's® artemisinin has had independent cell tests verifying its effectiveness, and they do independent potency assays on every batch, using HPLC. * References available upon request.
