| | | | | These Microbial Balancer formulations from Allergy Research Group® take advantage of the powers of certain general plant extracts to affect the intestinal balance of microorganisms. Since both friendly and unfriendly microorganisms are affected, Allergy Research Group® suggests the use of a probiotic supplement while using these botanicals (but taken at a different time of day) or after ceasing the use of the microbial balancers. * Description of Prolive with Antioxidants (Hypoallergenic) from Allergy Research Group®: Olives and olive oil have long been a staple food in Mediterranean countries, and substances obtained from parts of the olive tree, including the leaves, have traditionally been used for many health conditions including malaria, infections, cardiovascular diseases, and for general well-being. Olive oil is a key component of the Mediterranean diet, which we now know correlates with a decreased risk of coronary heart disease. * Olive leaf extract has been studied for its effect against various viruses and bacteria. A key component, calcium elenolate, has been found to inhibit certain viruses, including those that cause herpes, polio and influenza. Bacterial strains that cause intestinal or respiratory tract infections underwent in vitro tests with two olive secoiridoides, oleuropein (the bitter principle of olives), and hydroxytyrosol, which is considered to be responsible for the high stability of olive oil. Oleuropein inhibited several strains, while hydroxytyrosol showed broad antimicrobial activity. The researchers concluded that Olea europaea can be considered a potential source of promising antimicrobial agents against intestinal or respiratory tract infections in man. Olive leaf may also support probiotic balance in the gastrointestinal tract through antifungal activity. * Olive leaf supports cardiovascular health in numerous ways. Oleuropein is an antioxidant that can help prevent the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, reducing the risk of damaged arterial walls and atherosclerosis. Another phenol compound found in olive leaf, 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-ethanol, has potent antioxidant properties, and was found to significantly inhibit platelet aggregation, an important support for optimal circulation. Olive leaf may support lowering of elevated cholesterol levels. Finally, olive leaf extract contains oleuropeoside, a component responsible for vasodilator activity, supporting blood pressure regulation. Oleuropeoside also has hypoglycemic activity, due to potentiation of glucose-induced insulin release, and increased peripheral uptake of glucose. This may explain olive leaf's observed support of healthy blood sugar levels. * The initial research into the activity of olive leaf extract suggests it offers much promise for the promotion of health. Reports from clinicians confirm that it can assist the control of microbial balance and support the health of the heart and circulatory system. * References available upon request. Allergy Research Group®, Inc. | | *Hypoallergenic Defined: According to Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary "hypoallergenic" is defined as: "Diminished potential for causing an allergic reaction." Allergy Research Group® defines hypoallergenic as "Free of all common allergens", specifically, wheat, corn, soy, gluten, yeast, dairy, and eggs. Many very sensitive individuals who reach to supplements in general, are able to tolerate Allergy Research Group® product. Since our inception in 1979, we have been using only the purest, and whenever possible, the lowest allergy potential natural ingredients. And while many of the nutrients in our formulas are synthesized from natural substances (plant sources), which as a whole may contain antigens, the synthesizing process removes the molecules of the desired nutrient from the original substance, and in the processing a great percentage of the antigens and allergens are left behind. The final material then has extremely low allergy potential. This is not to say that no one will react to any of our hypoallergenic formulas, as some extremely sensitive people may. However, the potential for an allergic reaction is low, and the feedback from many of our extremely allergic and sensitive customers is that Allergy Research Group® supplements are the only products they are able to tolerate.
