Many common nutrients and formulas that abound today were once specialty products, known only to those who were willing to read overlooked or little-known research. Allergy Research Group® introduced many of these to doctors and consumers, such as CoQ10, pure Organic Germanium, and the whole spectrum of antioxidant nutrients.

Here are today's new, innovative and powerful nutrient formulas, that don't yet fit into a 'category'. As always, Allergy Research Group® obtains raw materials from the finest sources and strives to make their products as free of allergens as possible. *

Description of MetabolicZyme (Hypoallergenic) from Allergy Research Group®:

MetabolicZyme is a powerful enzyme formulation with both broad-spectrum pancreatic enzymes and plant-based proteolytic enzymes.  It provides nutrients that support circulation, support digestive function, and modulate the immune function. Proper digestion supports nutrient absorption, and ultimately nutrient bioavailability. The natural production of the digestive juices and enzymes declines with age. *

Dionaea muscipula, or Venus Flytrap, has immunomodulatory properties, which work synergistically with shiitake and the digestive enzymes in MetabolicZyme.  Like other plants, Venus Flytrap can synthesize glucose using chlorophyll and sunlight, but because it lives in boggy soils that are very acidic and nutrient deficient, it has to catch insects to obtain other key nutrients, including minerals and nitrogen.  Once the insect is caught, Venus Flytrap digests the insect and extracts the nutrients, digesting only the undeveloped, undifferentiated cells of the insects.

Research has shown that the active ingredients include quercetin, myricetin, amino acids, bile salts, formic acid, naphthoquinones, plumbagin, 3-chloroplumbagin, hydroplumbagin glucoside and droserone.  Some of the active components support lymphocyte proliferation and selectively attack poorly differentiated cells by inhibiting their mitochondrial ATP synthesis and interfering with protein kinase production.  Venus Flytrap extract supports macrophage production and activity, modulating the efficiency of the immune system by increasing the helper to suppressor ratio.  There is also evidence that it can support circulation and heart function, help regulate inflammation, help emulsify fats and support lipase activity, and provide antioxidant and chelating ability. *

Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) is a source of peptidoglycans which act as immunological adjuvants to stimulate immune response and help regulate inflammation.  The principal active constituent of shiitake is the polysaccharide lentinan (beta-1,3-glucan), which has been researched in Japan and elsewhere as an immune support substance.  Shiitake also contains a polysaccharide known as KS-2, and a polypentose, Ac2P, both of which are currently under investigation for effects on viruses and immune parameters.  Shiitake is an interferon inducer and increases the activity of the protective antioxidant enzyme super-oxide dismutase (SOD). *

The soy isoflavones (phytoestrogens) in MetabolicZyme include genistein, daidzein and glycitein, standardized in their free isoflavone forms, which are more easily absorbed than bound isoflavones (glycoside form). Genistein and daidzein have similar bioactive properties, and are classified as very weak estrogens.  Isoflavones modulate endogenous estrogen activity through their affinity for estrogen receptor sites, and can have estrogenic or anti-estrogenic activity, through either supply of weak estrogenic activity or competitive inhibition of estrogen receptors.  Besides hormone modulation, genistein inhibits the topioisomerase II enzyme and can arrest cell-cycle growth in the G2-M phase.  Daidzein can arrest the growth in the G1-M phase.  Isoflavones also can function as tyrosine kinase inhibitors.  They can inhibit platelet aggregation secondary to action-blockade of tyrosine kinase activity.  Platelet aggregation may stimulate the process of metastasis.  The additional action of blocking of leukotriene production may play a role in inhibition of inflammation and abnormal cell proliferation.  Isoflavones may also inhibit angiogenesis. *

Pancreatin contains three major groups of enzymes which digest the three major kinds of food substance: amylases digest carbohydrates, lipases digest fats, and proteases (proteolytic enzymes) digest protein.  Any inflammatory process in the gastrointestinal tract will interfere with the cells that produce digestive enzymes. Likewise, a lack of digestive enzymes can also increase the inflammatory process in the gut, which may further shut down enzyme production.  Proper levels of digestive enzymes can exert an anti-inflammatory action. *

Enzymes are catalysts that participate in virtually every bodily process.  Studies offer evidence that certain proteolytic enzymes may speed the healing of bruises and localized swelling, and reduce the duration of pain and inflammation after surgery. Proteolytic enzymes help protect the body by digesting the protein coating from potentially dangerous cells, so that the immune system can detect and dispose of them.  Studies suggest proteolytic enzymes may support the body's natural immune defenses, inhibit the growth of aberrant cells and enhance the effectiveness of oxidative therapies. *

Trypsin and chymotrypsin are proteolytic enzymes derived from pork pancreas that are involved with the digestive process, and have been used to help regulate inflammatory conditions, speed recovery from surgery, and support immune system function.* Pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme found in the stomach.

Papain is obtained from papaya, and bromelain from pineapple.  Both predominantly break down proteins. Besides supporting digestion of proteins, they have anti-inflammatory properties.  Bromelain has also been used to help regulate wound healing, support circulation and the cardiovascular system, activate tumor necrosis factors, inhibit the production of mucous and support joint health. *

Rutin is found in many plants, including buckwheat, black tea and apple peels.  It is a flavonol glycoside comprised of the flavonol quercetin and the disaccharide rutinose. Rutin helps strengthen capillaries, supports circulation, protects against toxins and inflammation, and may inhibit aberrant cell formation.  Rutin has powerful antioxidant activity, with the ability to disarm reactive oxygen species including superoxide radicals and ferrous cations.  It modulates the respiratory burst of neutrophils, helps maintain levels of reduced glutathione, prevents oxidation of Vitamin C, and may inhibit lipid peroxidation. *

Allergy Research Group®, Inc.

*Hypoallergenic Defined:  According to Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary "hypoallergenic" is defined as:  "Diminished potential for causing an allergic reaction."   Allergy Research Group® defines hypoallergenic as "Free of all common allergens", specifically, wheat, corn, soy, gluten, yeast, dairy, and eggs. Many very sensitive individuals who reach to supplements in general, are able to tolerate Allergy Research Group® product. Since our inception in 1979, we have been using only the purest, and whenever possible, the lowest allergy potential natural ingredients. And while many of the nutrients in our formulas are synthesized from natural substances (plant sources), which as a whole may contain antigens, the synthesizing process removes the molecules of the desired nutrient from the original substance, and in the processing a great percentage of the antigens and allergens are left behind. The final material then has extremely low allergy potential. This is not to say that no one will react to any of our hypoallergenic formulas, as some extremely sensitive people may.  However, the potential for an allergic reaction is low, and the feedback from many of our extremely allergic and sensitive customers is that Allergy Research Group® supplements are the only products they are able to tolerate.  (For further information about Allergy Research Group, click on their information link above)
